AVPAL Boxing

The boxing program focuses on conditioning the body, along with teaching respect for others and self discipline. The program also trains interested youth to compete in the P.A.L. boxing tournament held every year.
The AVPAL Boxing Gym currently has Mr. Al Franco as the head boxing instructor. The boxing program is available to current AVPAL members.

Boxing Application:
Boxing Program
Mr. Al Franco began boxing as an amateur at the age 12. He has been involved in Professional Boxing since 1996 as a lead trainer/chief 2nd.
Mr. Franco owned and operated the WARZONE BOXING CLUB that was home to many top professional fighters such as the current # 1 Heavyweight Contender, Chris "The Nightmare" Arreola, former World Champion Fernando Vargas, Contender Series One finalist, Peter Manfredo, Youth Flyweight Champion, Anthony "Baby Assassin" Villarreal, and Super Bantamweight Youth Champion, Michael "Lil Warrior" Franco.
Mr. Franco has led amateurs to several hundred victories with only a couple of dozen losses and have held numerous amateur Regional, State, and National level titles including Jr. Olympics, Silver Gloves, P.A.L.'s, Blue & Golds, Ringside Nationals, Golden Gloves, Box Offs, Men's under 19 and many more championships.
In the pro ranks, Mr. Franco currently trains two title holders, world ranked number five by the NABF and number nine by the NABO. They are currently undefeated WBC Intercontinental Youth Champion Michael "Lil Warrior" Franco and Anthony "Baby Assassin" Villarreal. Anthony is the current WBC youth Flyweight Champion ranked number seven in the World. These two individuals held a combined amateur record of 138 wins and only 10 defeats between them.
Amateur standout, Daniel "Twitch" Franco, who at 17 is a top prospect in California and has already been offered promotional offers by two of the top boxing promoters in the world was the 2006/2007 PAL Champion and finalist in the 2009 Golden Gloves. Sixteen year old, Jerry Perez is another amateur standout that has a bright future ahead of him as well.
These four fighters are assistant coaches at the AVPAL boxing gym and also train out of this facility along with professional hand wrap expert Nicholas Franco and professional fighter Sammy Yniguez.
